What a refreshing post from Ed Bott. I've respected his articles on computers and computing for longer than I can remember, but I am particularly pleased to see somebody in the computer industry who understands the longstanding systematic ways in which our nation has deliberately suppressed Black Americans. I have long been distressed by the very racist comments I've heard and read by people in the IT industry -- so I am very happy to see that one of the real gurus of IT is very much aware of the underlying problems that plague our nation and keep it from being all that it can be .... for all Americans.

I've conducted a slew of Analyses of Impediments to Fair Housing and written a monograph on how the real estate industry and governments have worked together to force segregation upon us (there is nothing remotely natural about the intensity of housing and school segregation in America) -- predating Richard Rothstein's amazingly insightful and fully documented tome "The Color of Law: A Forgotten History of How Our Government Segregated America." I would hope that anybody who doubts the validity of Ed's message would read Rothstein's award-winning book and learn the incontrovertable inconvenient truth that white supremacy has infested all levels of government for far longer than you might imagine. Thank you Ed for sharing the words of Dr. King.
